Elks prepare Christmas baskets for local families
On Dec. 19, members of Howell Elks Lodge 2168 prepared 40 Christmas food baskets for Livingston County families. Baskets included a 12-pound to 15-pound ham, a bag of potatoes, a bag of oranges, cereal, pancake mix, syrup, boxed-food items, canned goods, bread, butter, cheese and other assorted items. Money raised from the Black and White Dinner held Nov. 25 contributed to the number of baskets prepared. This year’s basket count was 19 more than what was prepared by the group for 2008.
