Sexton runs past Glads, 33-20

FOWLERVILLE — In the end, Fowlerville suffered the same fate as many area teams this season — too much Onaje Miller. The junior’s 239 rushing yards and four touchdowns carried Sexton to a 33-20 victory over Fowlerville in the opening round of the Division 3 playoffs on Friday night. Miller had 200 yards and all four of his touchdowns in the first half.

Clerk hasn’t done duties of his office

By electing Matt Skiba to office last year, Hamburg Township voters hired him to serve as township clerk. They put their trust in him to satisfactorily perform the duties of the office and serve its residents. But he has done none of that. The only person he serves is Matt Skiba.

Granholm not making responsible choices

Gov. Jennifer Granholm has earned the dubious distinction of one of the worst governors in the nation. My letter to the governor dated Sept. 4 expressed the need for knowledgeable common sense, like that of Detroit Public Schools emergency financial manager Robert Bobb, is needed in Lansing.

Guest column: Much at risk if Hamburg recreation millage fails

On Tuesday, the residents of Hamburg Township will be asked to vote on a millage to provide funding to keep our parks, Lakelands Trail, and the senior and community center operating. The Hamburg Township Board of Trustees, along with the unanimous support of the Hamburg Township Parks and Recreation Board and all local activity and athletic groups, have made the decision to seek funding to keep our recreational facilities open and functioning through a special millage, as the township’s general fund can no longer support them on its own.
