Q: The lawn winterizing stuff is so confusing. One store says I should put on a balanced fertilizer like 16-16-16, and another says to dump a bunch of phosphorus and potash on and use virtually no nitrogen. I got a soil test from MSU Extension and have been following it, and the lawn looks great. But what do I do about this winter fertilizer stuff?

Approximately 150 students from Hartland Middle School at Ore Creek recently participated in a contest sponsored by the Cromaine District Library in Hartland Township and Barnes & Noble. The students read the book “Nothing but the Truth,” and then designed a book cover of their own. The top three winners were given gift certificates from Cromaine for Barnes & Noble ($50, $30 and $20).
