I am writing to voice my opinion on your editorial of April 29, “Merit pay for teachers? It’s worth exploring.” The issue of merit pay is complex and generates much discussion on both sides of the argument. Regardless of where one stands in this debate, however, I must take issue with an example in your article.

State should tax all cell phone calls

I think the decision-makers in the state of Michigan should consider a tax on all cell phone calls, maybe 5 cents. Think about how much money this could generate for the state of Michigan. Maybe this would cut down on some of the overuse of the cell phone.
