Senior center deserves support

The Daily Press & Argus has recently published several articles regarding the continuing budget shortfall in the Brighton Area Schools district. This seems to be an ongoing problem with no immediate solution other than reducing costs. The Brighton Senior Center’s annual operating budget is subsidized by the school district.

Sad to see Brighton Athletic Club closing

Today will be a sad day for Livingston County’s fitness buffs, as the Brighton Athletic Club closes its doors after 35 years in business. The building, which is on Grand River Avenue in Genoa Township, just north of the city of Brighton, is being demolished to make way for a new medical/office building.

Girl Scout Camp Innisfree open house set for May 6

Camp Innisfree in Marion Township is holding an open house from noon to 5 p.m. on May 6, giving area residents a preview of this year’s summer camp schedule. Camp Innisfree is a 1,140-acre camp owned and operated by the Girl Scouts of Metro Detroit. It offers a variety of summer camp programs for girls ages 7-17.
