Festival highlights:
*Crowning of the Melon Festival Prince and Princess at 6:30pm, August 18
*Used book sale at the Howell Carnegie District Library runs August 18-21. Call 517.546.0720
*Daily melon tent and the Melon Festival Parade at noon August 20
*Carnival August 19-21 at Page Field behind the Barnard Community Center, east side of Barnard Street north of Clinton Street just east of downtown.
*Annual Melon Run August 19 at 6:15pm at Howell City Park
*Classic Car Show August 21 from noon - 3pm at 611 E. Grand River Ave. in the Republic Bank parking lot downtown
*Disc Dog Show at Howell City Park starting at 11am August 21; runs into the afternoon
*Other highlights: A Knights of Columbus pancake breakfast August 20-21 at the melon tent, entertainment daily in the courthouse amphitheater and arts and crafts august 20-21. Evening bingo tent returns to the festival this year as well, August 19-21.

The old saying goes, if you don’t vote don’t complain, well here is your chance to have your opinions heard. Come and be a part of the 20th Annual Kiwanis Classic Car Show & Cruise on Sunday, August 14th, 2005. Registration starts at noon at the Brighton City Hall Parking Lot. Jugding will begin at 4 pm and the cruise will begin at 7 pm. Space is limited to 200. There will be a DJ on site during the show and following the cruise there will be a free concert with Big Pinky and the Joint Effort Band. Plaques will be given out as awards. Dash plaques for all!! Hundreds of artists display their works during this weekend of fun and activities, joined by food vendors and entertainment. This is the original juried art show in Brighton, drawing more than 25,000 art enthusiasts every year.
